North of England Ophthalmological Society
Prize for the best video entry of the year
The Prize will be known as the North of England Ophthalmological Society Video Prize
There shall be one prize of £150 awarded at the Autumn meeting of the Society for the best video entry
The value of the prize may be altered from time to time by quorum of the Council of the North of England Ophthalmological Society
The Prize Committee for the year shall be agreed at the Autumn Council meeting
The Prize Committee shall comprise the President (or nominated representative in his/her absence), three members of the Council and one other person agreed by the Council to be appropriate
The Prize Committee shall have equal votes in the judgement of the prize
Entrants may submit a maximum of one video entry at a time as the first author
The prize will have a monetary value and will be awarded to the lead author of the winning video entry, who must present the video entry at the Autumn meeting
The Prize Committee has the right to withhold award of a prize if in their opinion no video entry merits award of a prize
Where a member of the Prize committee is a joint author or has any other personal involvement in an entry paper, he/she will declare an interest to the Chairman of the Prize committee and will refrain from taking part in the judging of that competition. Another member of the council or person nominated by the council will then take part in the marking.
All grades are eligible to be considered for this prize
The work presented must have been undertaken in a department of ophthalmology affiliated to the North of England Ophthalmological Society or in a university or research institute directly affiliated to that department
All submissions must follow the guidance laid down on the NEOS website and be submitted in the required video format, and be submitted before the deadline. Submissions received after the deadline and not to the required format or duration will not be considered
Videos can be interesting or challenging cases relating to any ophthalmological topic. The absolute maximum length of the video is 5 minutes running time
The video entry must be submitted and presented at the author’s own expense
The Council of the North of England Ophthalmological Society may amend these rules at any time
